Progression Points, or PP, represent the main way of customizing and improving your character, they can be used to increase your stats like health or stamina, purchase new Perks, or gain new Proficiencies.
By default, you receive 7 points during character creation and 3 upon leveling up. Certain gameplay events might also give you free points, such as a heated training montage.
Here are all the ways you can spend your PP:
1. Increase Stats:
— Health: 1 PP increases your Max Health by 7. You can do this up to twice per level up.
— Stamina: 1pp increases your Max Stamina by 4. You can do this up to twice per level up.
2. Increase Attributes: 2 PPs can be spent to increase an Attribute by +1.
— Strength: Increasing your Strength also increases your Carry Weight by 10kg, or 20 lbs.
— Constitution: Since your Constitution is added to your max health upon leveling up, increasing your Constitution by 1 also increases your Max Health equal to your current level, since the increase is applied retrospectively.
3. Gain Proficiencies:
— Skill Proficiencies: 1 PP can be used to gain a new Skill, Weapon, Armor, or Tool Proficiency (Athletics, Persuasion, Bladed Melee, Basic Armor, etc.)
— Saving Throw Proficiencies: 1 PP can be used to gain a Saving Throw Proficiency (Wisdom, Charisma, etc.). Picking a saving throw proficiency requires at least +1 in that Attribute.
— Gain Expertise: 2 PP can be used to gain Expertise in a skill you’re already Proficient in. This doubles your Proficiency Bonus on those skill rolls. At level 10 forward, you can spend 2 more PP to gain Mastery in the Skill, tripling your Proficiency Bonus.
4. Gain new Perks:
— Perks: 1 PP can be used to buy 1 Perk, as long as you meet all the requirements. Some powerful perks might need more points. You can get up to 2 Perks per level up.
5. Learn languages:
— 2 PP can be used to learn a new language, the specific one depends on the setting.
