Ability Difficulty Class

— Core mechanic

Some Abilities have effects that test its targets’ resistances or reflexes, for example: “Target must make a DEX save or …”.

The DC for these is called Ability Difficulty Class (ADC), and is calculated like this:

ADC = 8 + Your proficiency bonus + Your Tier in the Ability’s Path + Your Relevant Attribute.

For example, if you use the Fire Breath ability, and you’re at Tier 1 in Chemical Magic, and at level 1 (with Proficiency Bonus of 2), and have +3 in Intelligence (the Relevant Attribute for Chemical Magic), the ADC for that ability would be 8 + 1 +2 +3 = 14. Meaning, the affected targets must roll DEX saving of at least 14 to avoid getting burned.
